Hi! My name is Amy! It’s great to have you here!
When I married the love of my life in 2011, I left my job, packed up my things and moved about 40 miles out of the city to what can only be described as one of the smallest towns in Mississippi. And I admit – it was a culture shock for quite awhile. That was the first time I toyed around with a blog. I thought it might be a good way to fight the loneliness, get out of my own head and express myself creatively. So I gave it a try on a free blogger platform. I think I made a couple of posts and then….it fell to the side. I went back to work for a couple of years, we grew our auto repair business, and we bought a new home. Life happened….
And here I am again, almost six years later. I left that job outside of my home, my hubby is at that auto shop at least 12-14 hours a day (so there is still a moment or two of loneliness), and my (not so) new home is still like a blank canvas.
So I thought I would give this blogging thing another try….
A LITTLE ABOUT ME:
I am a former Family Law Paralegal. Although, I have held a multitude of jobs in a range of industries, my formal education came in the form of an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. I am a semester away from a Bachelor’s Degree. (maybe one day I will finish that- just to say I did.)
I was born in Michigan, but grew up in Memphis, Tennessee.
My husband and I met in Memphis in 1996 through a mutual friend. After a 15 year journey, we FINALLY married in 2011.
We have two girls, Anissa (23) and Sarah (
17 18). They are 5 1/2 years apart and as different as night and day.
We also have two grandchildren. Ahna and Adrian. (The name and inspiration behind my Boutique on Etsy)
two fur-babies four fur babies- Oreo (Puppy), Lola, and our two newest additions, Peyton and Brooke. Oreo, my little Parti-poodle, is our rescue baby. Lola, a chihuahua, is actually our grand-dog, but due to a accident that left her partially paralyzed, lives with us permanently now. Peyton and Brooke are sisters, part Shitzu and part Jack Russell. We adopted them in October.
We also have 2 turtles- Pierre and Stitch.
I just opened a brand new business outside my home. For several years now, I have wanted a place where I could just spread and out be creative and I finally took the plunge and opened a small shop and studio where I can sew and paint and do all kinds of creative things. I named it The Crafty Cottage Shop & Studio! I have a nice little selection of locally made products as well as some fun craft and sewing supplies. If you ever happen to be in Ashland, stop by and say Hi!
